Join SCAE on an unforgettable trip to what is probably one of the most unique coffee origins in the world.  This will truly be a trip of a life time to a country which is shrouded in mystery, a forgotten place, an exciting land, rich in history, exotic wildlife and equally exotic tribes with strange mysterious customs and a unique primitive culture.

Experience first-hand an origin where unbelievably fertile volcanic soil and the ideal climate for growing coffee combine to produce some coffees which taste like the best coffees should, complex flavour profiles which will delight your palate, a delicate but excellent acidity, great body, clean aftertaste and a refreshing pleasing aroma.

But don’t take my word for it join us and find out for yourself.

The trip will start on Friday May 2nd 2014 with the group meeting up in the capital, Port Moresby after a tour of the city it is off to the Highlands and a tour of the coffee growing areas that will take the group through all the major coffee growing regions of the country visiting plantations smallholder growers, processing facilities, exporters, the Coffee Industry Corporation’s Research centre at Aiyura as well as its quality control lab in Lae.

The scenery is breath-taking; the weather should be ideal – warm days, cool nights; and the people, welcoming and friendly.

This is a trip which you will be telling your friends about for years to come.

The whole trip will take 10 days ending back up in Port Moresby for departure on the 12th May – perfect timing for those wishing to attend the world coffee championships (World latte Art Championship, World Cup

Tasters Championship and the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship) being held in Melbourne from the 15th through to the 18th May 2014.

Putting together such a trip is not easy as this is not an origin which is on the regular tourist route.  Furthermore in order to ensure that the trip is affordable we require a minimum of 10 participants.

If you are interested in participating then we require a firm decision (plus a deposit)  from you by the end of February.

The cost of the trip will be €2,750 plus airfares.  This will include all accommodation, meals, transport (including flights) inside the country and the tour of Port Moresby.

If you are interested then please contact the office on membership@scae-mail.com; or Colin Smith on colin@smiths-coffee.demon.co.uk or Mick Wheeler on wheeler@globalnet.co.uk
