COLUMBUS, Ohio U.S. – Ethiopian Kossa Kebena and Wayfarer Blend craft coffees helped Columbus roaster Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea bring home the 2019 Small Franchise/Chain Championship at the Golden Bean North America – the nation’s largest roasting competition.

“These craft coffees were judged among the best of the best,” said Education and Sustainability Director Brandon Bir. “Through November 30, we invite you to enjoy our award-winners as drip, pour-over, espresso and other specialty coffee drinks.

“We’ve also developed an amazing signature drink for the brew bar,” he added. “A little savory and a little sweet, our Golden Bean Turmeric Latte features Wayfarer Blend espresso melded with Indian powdered turmeric, honey, cinnamon powder and milk.”

Prices for the award-winning drinks include:

  • A two-ounce shot of Wayfarer Blend espresso costs $3.00.
  • A 10-ounce Golden Bean Turmeric Latte sells for $4.00.
  • A 12-ounce pour-over coffee costs $4.75.
  • Batch-brewed Ethiopian Kossa Kebena drip coffee sells for $2.15 (12-ounce), $2.35 (16-ounce) and $2.65 (20 ounce).

It costs 50 cents to substitute Wayfarer Blend for Armando’s Blend in any coffee drink.

Wayfarer, which means traveler, is blended from a rotating selection of current-crop coffees. Lightly roasted, the coffee melds the syrupy, rich and smooth notes of tree nuts and chocolate with bright accents of exotic fruits. In addition to its Golden Bean awards, Wayfarer has brought home medals and trophies from the America’s Best Espresso competition.

Ethiopian Kossa Kebena was a finalist for a 2019 Good Food Award. Crimson Cup sourced this exceptional coffee through its Friend2Farmer direct trade program. Bir and other members of the coffee buying team travel more than 86,000 miles each year to source coffee directly from farmers. The roaster pays an above-market price, consults with farmers on ways improve coffee quality and invests in community improvements.

Wayfarer Blend and Ethiopian Kossa Kebena will be available while supplies last at Crimson Cup Coffee Houses in Clintonville, Upper Arlington and Tallmadge Ohio.
