MILAN, Italy – Storible, a Digital PR firm, has unveiled its latest Oscar predictions, drawing from an unconventional source: a cup of coffee. Utilizing data on films featuring coffee and the frequency of coffee scenes, the company suggests that the presence of this caffeinated beverage could hold more influence in predicting Oscar success than previously believed.
Their research, as reported by the website euronews, reveals that one-third of Oscar-winning films include coffee, with each coffee scene boosting a film’s chances for winning by a precise 26.52%.
Based on this analysis, Storible reports that the optimal number of coffee features for an Oscar-winning film is eight.
Their prediction for this year’s Best Picture winner was Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s epic exploring the genocidal conspiracy against the Osage tribe in the US, which boasts six coffee features – the highest among contenders.
Unfortunately, this prediction was not quite exact since the winner for Best Picture was Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan.
However, following closely, Poor Things and American Fiction each feature four coffee scenes, while The Zone of Interest trails with three. Films like Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Maestro, and Oppenheimer feature two coffee scenes, prompting disappointment among coffee aficionados for their low representation.
