HERSHEY, Pa., US – Hershey’s has created the world’s largest chocolate nut bar. The record-breaking bar was unveiled last Friday at Hershey’s Chocolate World in Hershey. The Reese’s Take 5 bar measures 9 feet long by 5.5 feet wide by 2 feet high and weighs 5,943 pounds.
In metric terms, that is 2.74 long by 1.68 by 0.61 meters weighting almost 2.7 tons.
The enormous chocolate bar mirrors the classic bar with a delicious combination of five layers – Reese’s peanut butter, chocolate, caramel, peanuts and pretzels.
For this attempt, a team of over 40 individuals from The Hershey Company research and development center and manufacturing facilities assisted Michael Nolt, original creator of Take 5, in the creation of this gigantic bar.
The previous Guinness World Record had been set only two weeks ago by competitor Mars Wrigley.
The achievement come ahead of Reese’s’ first-ever Big Game advertising spot, airing during the third quarter of the Super Bowl lasts Sunday.
“The Reese’s team believes records, even those just a few weeks old, are meant to be broken,” said Veronica Villasenor, Vice President of Chocolate. “You might not have been familiar with Reese’s Take 5 before, but now, the bar will become your newest obsession.”
Now the herculean bar will be distributed among Hershey’s employees per Guinness World Records guideline requirements, which states all food-related records must be donated or consumed.
