MILAN – Honduras’ National Coffee Institute, or IHCAFE reported on Monday a 1.9 percent increase in exports in January. Shipments from Central America’s biggest producer and exporter of the commodity rose last month to 535,628 60-kg bags from 525,670 bags in January 2015.
During the October 2015 – January 2016 period, exports totalled 958,678 bags, up 2.1 percent from the equivalent period in coffee year 2014/15.
Honduras expects to export about 5.52 million bags during the 2015/2016 harvest, which would mark a 10 percent increase compared to shipments during the previous cycle.
