BERLIN, Germany – It will be rum making its grand appearance at this year’s Bar Convent Berlin. However, with a total of 1,200 brands none of the other spirits will fall short either. 430 exhibitors will be presenting new products and variations here, ranging from gin, liqueur and tequila to bitters, whiskey and vermouth.

The biggest trade show in the industry brings together bar owners, bar tenders, distributors and manufacturers from some 80 countries from 7 to 9 October.

There will be many novelties to discover this year, too. These come care of the approx. 100 new exhibitors alone who have already registered at this early stage. So visitors will be in for numerous new taste experiences, brands and innovations.

House of Rum

At home around the world and a trend now forming a key ingredient for our community – for the first time BCB will create a dedicated stage for rum. In 2019, the “Kühlhaus” will become the “House of Rum” and hence, a hotspot for all rum makers and lovers. Our partner for this project will be no less than “Rum Ambassador” Ian Burell.

“We are delighted to have enlisted Ian, the world’s best-known rum expert,” says BCB boss Petra Lassahn, who goes on to say: “We plan to implement this as a joint project and give visitors the opportunity to taste rum across a number of different regions of origin and get to know new signature drinks. What’s more, the Rum Stage will provide first-hand expert knowledge.”

Mauritius

A small island with a big rum tradition: Mauritius, known for sugar cane cultivation, boasts “Rhum Agricole” produced from freshly squeezed sugar-cane juice. Alongside the classic rum types there are numerous aromatic versions. This rum paradise will be in the focus of BCB 2019 and act as the official partner country. In cooperation with the Economic Development Board Mauritius, this small country will present selected manufacturers at the House of Rum.

Coffee is bar culture

BCB has already shown that high-quality and creative coffee specialities are also making increasing inroads in bars. Coffee Convent with its line-up of innovative coffee products proved a popular attraction for visitors. In 2019, the coffee theme will again play a prominent role at the trade show. This year’s partner at Coffee Convent is the “Berliner Kaffeerösterei”. The line-up on the Coffee Stage will be supported by the Berlin School of Coffee which offers professional barista training and all manner of coffee know-how.

Education in focus

BCB would not be the same without its top-notch continuous education options. Which means education will also be in focus again this year. Bar Convent will once again be cooperating with the renowned sector expert Angus Winchester. Organisers expect international bar authorities, inspirations galore and valuable input for daily bar routine.

Tickets

This year sees BCB being held over three days for the second time now. This will allow more interested parties to attend the event. There will only be 1-day tickets available to make it easier to control and spread visitor streams. Those wanting to visit the trade show on two or three days will benefit from discounted ticket prices. The 1-day ticket for trade visitors is EUR 40, an Upgrade Ticket for the second or third day is only EUR 30 per day. www.barconvent.com/tickets
