NEW YORK – Effective with the start of trading for trade date Monday, March 10, 2014 and through and including trade date Friday, March 28, 2014, the Exchange is implementing temporary changes to the open times for trading of Sugar No. 11, Coffee “C” and Cocoa futures and options contracts.

During this period trading in these products will open at:

  • Sugar No. 11: 4:30 am NY time (8:30 am GMT)
  • Coffee “C” : 5:15 am NY time (9:15 am GMT)
  • Cocoa: 5:45 am NY time (9:45 am GMT).

This temporary change to the opening times for these products is due to the start of Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. on March 9, and will last through the start of British Summertime on March 30.

In addition, for this same period (March 10 to March 28, 2014) the Exchange is implementing a temporary change to the daily settlement window for the Cocoa Contracts.

For this period only, the daily settlement window for Cocoa will be from 12:48 to 12:50 pm NY time; at the end of this period, the window will revert back to the normal 11:48 to 11:50 am time.

Due to this change, the trading day for Cocoa futures Trade At Settlement contracts will also be extended to the end of the settlement window, or 12:50 pm NY time. (Please note that trading in the expiring March 2014 Cocoa future contract on its last trading day – 3/14/14 – will also end at 12:50 pm.)

Other trading times for these products, including the Pre-Open time, Daily Settlement Windows, and the Daily Close of Trading (other than for Cocoa as noted above), remain unchanged during this period as expressed in NY local times.

Traders outside the US should be aware that DST in the US begins on March 9, and that this will impact their local time corresponding to the New York Pre-Open, Daily Settlement Window and Daily Close of Trading times.
