LONDON, UK – The ICO ’s International Coffee Council (the Council), taking into account the approval of the International Coffee Agreement 2022 on 9 June 20220, has decided to establish a Working Group mandated to draft and review any applicable documents required for the entry into force of the abovementioned Agreement.
The Council shall appoint a Chair and Vice-Chair of the Working Group.
The Working Group shall be open to all Members, shall establish its own procedures and timing and shall submit its recommendations to the Council for approval.
The Group shall hold its first meeting as soon as possible, with a view to submitting recommendations to the Council at its Session in July 2023 or in subsequent Council sessions.
The Group shall normally meet online or in person, at the most convenient location for its members.
The working language of the Group will be English.
In other news, India has asked for the postponement of the World Coffee Conference, the 136th Session of the International Coffee Council and related meetings and events, taking place in Bangalore, from 10–15 July 2023 to 23 September–1 October 2023.
India also proposed the Honourable Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Government of India, to be the Chair of the Conference.
