ICO – March coffee exports slightly higher on year

LONDON – Global exports of all forms of coffee by exporting countries to all destinations rose slightly in March reaching 10.34 million bags up 2.2% compared to the equivalent month of 2013.

Exports of Colombian Milds and Other Milds were both up by 30.6% and 1.6% respectively while Arabica and Robusta shipments went down 0.3% and 1,6% respectively.

This brings the total volume of exports for the first six months of coffee year 2013/14 (Oct/13 to Mar/14) to 53,187,376 bags or 4.7% lower than the same period in 2012/13.

In terms of coffee groups, Colombian Milds rose 30.9% on year, while Other Milds, Brazilian Naturals and Robusta were down 9.9%, 2.8% and 5.3% respectively.

In the twelve months ending March 2014, exports of Arabica totalled 69.1 million bags compared to 67.96 million bags last year; whereas Robusta exports amounted to 40.13 million bags compared to 42.92 million bags.
