MEXICO CITY – The Government of Mexico release on September 26th the following statement concerning Mexico’s participation in the International Coffee Organization.
We are trying to promote quality and specialty coffees across the country with a view to competing more efficiently in world markets and to highlight the best features of the aromatic Mexican variety.
Mexico increased its participation in the International Coffee Organization (ICO) by actively forming part (with voting rights) of the Market Development, Finance and Administration and the Private Sector committees, three of the institution’s six work groups.
This participation ensures that Mexico will actively take part in the work carried out by the OCI for the benefit  of the international coffee industry and its markets.
Mexico will have the opportunity to express itself and make a contribution to meeting the great challenges facing Coffee Culture and the international food and agriculture sector, given  the risks to the market and climate change.
Mexico seeks to promote quality and specialty coffees across the country as part of its new coffee policy.
The objective is to compete more efficiently in world markets and to highlight the best features of the aromatic Mexican variety.
