An important indicator for the innovative power and future viability of an industry is the prizes with which a branch of the economy draws attention to new products and innovations. And after a top-level specialist jury selected the winners of the Intergastra Innovation Prize 2016, it has become clear once more.
The gastronomy and hotel sector continually reinvents itself and constantly develops new ideas in order to be able to make perfect offers to the guests.
The coveted prize is to be awarded already for the 9th time, and this year goes to the companies Conichi (Berlin), Klafs (Schwäbisch Hall) and Rieber (Reutlingen).
Also the high number of entries submitted proves the innovative power of the sector: With over 100 applications, the event organisers were able to announce a new record.
The Intergastra Innovation Prize 2016 will be presented on 20 February at the opening of the international trade fair in Stuttgart by Günther Oettinger, the EU Commissioner for the Digital Economy.
All award-winning product innovations are less than two years old, i.e. they have only been on the market since the last INTERGASTRA or are about to be launched on the market. The innovations will be exhibited during the trade fair on the Newcome area in Hall 5.
Three categories, three prize winners: Fresh ideas for the sector
The winner in the category for Smart Services in this year’s Innovation Prize comes from Berlin.
The company Conichi, with the hotel app of the same name, provides a software solution based on energy-saving beacon technology that allows simple communication with the guest via his smartphone.
The app makes possible the individualisation of service in hotels, and companies and guests save time because they can check in and out faster with Conichi, and also settle payments by means of the app.
The company Klafs from Schwäbisch Hall has won the prize in the category for Building and Facility Management with its Sauna “S1”, which rapidly transforms a classical hotel room into a private spa suite.
When retracted, the convertible sauna is only 60 centimetres deep, but at the press of a button it can be transformed into a functional, high-quality sauna almost three times as large in just 20 seconds.
The product is designed as a completely self-contained, mobile system, which, in event of conversion work in the hotel, can simply be relocated.
In the category for Kitchen Technology, the Intergastra Innovation Prize 2016 goes to the company Rieber in Reutlingen.
With its product “CHECK”, this manufacturer offers a digitalisation and organisation system that allows secure monitoring of foods with QR codes, making processes transparent, safe and retraceable. With this web-based system, you can see in real time which foods are where and at what temperature.
This facilitates optimum coordination and organisation of sequences in the food flow process and in other working processes in gastronomy businesses.
About Intergastra
The world of hospitality – This is the claim of Intergastra, one of the most important European trade fairs for gastronomy, hotels and dedicated hosts.
In 2014, the comprehensive exhibition programme on over 100,000 square metres of floor space brought together just under 90,000 visitors and around 1,300 exhibitors from Germany and abroad.
The event therefore meets these high expectations, and regularly receives top marks from the exhibiting companies and trade visitors alike.
Kitchen technology and food, ambience and equipment, services, handmade ice cream, beverages and coffee – These are the themes on which the specialist visitors from Germany and abroad obtain information, and are encouraged to think outside the box.
The gastronomic heart of Germany beats in the southwest where at the start of the year Intergastra showcases innovations and trends, and provides many opportunities for the exchange of expert opinions and ideas. www.intergastra.de
