TRIESTE, Italy – illy renews its collaboration with La Biennale di Venezia on the occasion of the 57th International Art Exhibition, curated by Christine Macel and entitled Viva Arte Viva.

To illy, coffee is an occasion for meeting, dialogue and intellectual stimulation; it is a time out for reflection and relaxation.

In its pursuit of this ideal, for the past twenty-five years illy has actively contributed to fostering the dissemination and awareness of contemporary art by supporting artists, exhibits and international events, and by creating its own cultural events, as well.

The illy Art Collections, series of artistic coffee cups which the company has been producing since 1992, are one of the most visible expressions of illycaffè’s relationship with contemporary creativity.

Many of the foremost representatives of the international art scene and numerous emerging young artists have transformed an object of daily use like the coffee cup—in this case reinvented by the architect and designer Matteo Thun—into a cult object.

Michelangelo Pistoletto, Marina Abramovich, Jeff Koons, James Rosenquist, Julian Schnabel and Anish Kapoor are just a few of the renowned artists who have contributed to this project.

To illy, participation at the 57th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia is particularly important because the illy Art Collection celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary this year.

This is an occasion to commemorate the company’s collaboration with the great masters of contemporary art throughout the world and, at this same time, to look ahead to future goals.

Throughout the duration of the Biennale Arte 2017, visitors will find illy coffee in all the cafés at the Arsenale and the Giardini, and a special tasting bar will be set up in the Giardini during the Vernissage.
