VENICE, Italy – illycaffè celebrates the 25th anniversary of its illy Art Collections, the exclusive series of cups that it has been issuing since 1992 in cooperation with well-known international contemporary artists, including icons such as Marina Abramović, Robert Rauschenberg, Jeff Koons, Julian Schnabel, Anish Kapoor and Daniel Buren.
To celebrate this important milestone marking the strong and long-standing bond between the company and the world of contemporary art, illy has created the Robert Wilson illy Art Collection, designed by the eclectic American artist, who has managed to capture the spirit of the illy Art Collections.
Over the years, this authentic design project has involved hundreds of international artists from different fields of performance and visual arts.
With an installation open to the public at the Magazzini del Sale in Venice until July 16th, Robert Wilson leads the illy Art Collections into a magical world where the illy blend colorfully and vivaciously describes a story, or rather a fairytale, which began in 1992 and that, thanks to its talented protagonists, turned the iconic cup designed by Matteo Thun in 1991 into a collection artwork available to everyone.
