TRIESTE, Italy – To properly understand the value of true quality, knowledge must be preserved and shared: this is the founding principle behind Università del Caffè, the centre of excellence dedicated to coffee professionals and connoisseurs, whose authoritativeness rests upon the store of knowledge acquired by illycaffè during more than 80 years of work in this field.
Founded in Naples in 1999, as the brainchild of the company founder’s son, Ernesto Illy, Università del Caffè moved to Trieste in 2002. Today, its 20-year anniversary is being celebrated by a newly issued Limited Edition Cup.
The famous illy cup, designed by Matteo Thun, is adorned with the logo of Università del Caffè, placed square in the middle of the cup as an almost Vitruvian tribute. Both the cup and the saucer feature multi-coloured borders that both recall and ideally bring together the many campuses worldwide.
This sophisticated decor brings to life the idea of a virtuous circle promoting quality through knowledge, the very essence of Università del Caffè, a place where for the last twenty years teachers have worked with dedication, in the conviction that promoting a culture of excellence ensures shared, sustainable growth.
This emblematic object will be available to the public starting in September in our retail outlets and e-shop at a suggested price of € 25. The Limited Edition Cup enhances flavour and aroma blending them with history and experience so that the everyday act of drinking a cup of coffee pays tribute to a visionary project that continues over time.
