STUTTGART, Germany – Get in quickly, then the door of the lift shuts with a slight draught. But the lift doesn’t go down, instead it heads up again and an important person for your professional development enters the cab. Now there is either an embarrassing silence or one uses the opportunity to convince the superior, potential business partner or investor of a new business idea.

The clock starts ticking as soon as the lift begins to move.

What arguments should one use to turn a listener into a supporter in a few moments?

What is really important, what are the core elements of a message?

And what distracts from the essential part?

Inspired by such a conversation in a lift, the first “Elevator Pitch BW – DEHOGA Cup” takes place within the framework of Intergastra 2016.

The organisers are the German hotel and restaurant association DEHOGA Baden-Württemberg e.V., who presents the competition on the final day of Intergastra 2016 at 12:00 on its stage, as well as the Initiative for Start-Ups and Business Transfers of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

The captivating concept on the DEHOGA stage is just one of the many elements of Newcome, which takes place for the first time at Intergastra from 20 to 24 February in Stuttgart.

During the Elevator Pitch start-ups in the hospitality industry have the opportunity to pitch their concept in three minutes. The professional jury includes experts such as the 3-star chef Harald Wohlfahrt.

“The long-standing experience with our trade fair for business start-ups ‘Newcome’ is now being integrated in Intergastra”, explains Ulrich Kromer, President of Messe Stuttgart.

“We expanded the concept with new content so that start-ups and makers and doers from the hospitality sector find an exciting platform here for networking and exchanging ideas.”

“An ideal platform for exchanging information and ideas with experienced makers and doers”

Under the heading “Flying Start for Makers and Doers”, Newcome not only answers questions on business start-ups and self-employment at Intergastra in its diverse accompanying programme. Costings, marketing strategies or business issues can also be discussed with industry experts.

“In the initial period of a business start-up it is imperative to exchange information and ideas with others.

This way minor obstacles which you may not have even thought about are quickly detected”, highlights Ferdinand Pillenstein from the start-up Suppdiwupp.

“Elements such as the Start-up Forum at Intergastra offer an ideal platform for exchanging information and ideas with experienced makers and doers in this initial phase.”

Intergastra thus brings together lateral thinkers, visionaries, curious people and established entrepreneurs, the exchange of best practices is encouraged and everyone can benefit.

“As a trade fair in the trade fair, Newcome is a unique and attractive hub on all matters related to the hospitality business”, states Kromer.

“The hospitality scene is constantly developing and we provide a comprehensive offer with lots of new ideas, a food truck as a caterer and, last but not least, the attractive networking lounge.”

The “Restaurant of the future” competition also shows that Newcome addresses future-oriented trends. This year awards will be presented for concepts for outdoor catering. In addition, three companies will be presented who can be pleased with their award of the Intergastra innovation prize.

“With the diverse offer, Intergastra creates a fair balance between tried-and-tested and new elements. It reinvents itself, without turning its back on its traditional core topics”, states Pillenstein, who, like many of his colleagues, appreciates the good relations at Intergastra.

“I look forward to Intergastra, because I meet suppliers, prospective customers and industry colleagues, with whom I can guide my company into the future.”
