STUTTGART, Germany – An automated sauna you can adjust in size to fit into every home, a comprehensive hotel app for check-in, payment and room entry or a smart digitisation system for professional kitchens – the winners of the last Intergastra Innovation Prize offered both thrilling and versatile solutions for the hospitality industry.

On the occasion of the upcoming Intergastra, which takes place from 3 to 7 February 2018 in Stuttgart, outstanding concepts of an innovative nature from the kitchen technology, design, food and beverage, property and facility management, sustainability, productivity and promotional sectors will again be singled out for distinction.

Professional jury selects promising projects

A top-class professional jury of thirteen already selects the winners of the tenth Innovation Prize in the run-up to the Intergastra 2018.

The jury is composed of chairman Prof. Wolfgang Fuchs (DHBW Ravensburg), Thomas Brütt (Aramark), Henning Drenkhahn (Intercontinental Berlin), Bernhard Eck (Editorial department, AHGZ), Joachim Eckert (Matthaes Verlag), Fritz Engelhardt (DEHOGA Baden-Württemberg), Thomas Hirschberger (Hans im Glück), Erwin Kiefer (AHGZ), Jürgen Köhler (Mövenpick Hotels Deutschland), Ulrich Kromer (Messe Stuttgart), Bernd Reutemann (Staytrue Hotels & Consulting), Dr. Steffen Schwarz (Coffee-Consulate), Susanne Weiß (Ringhotels) and Frank Widmann (Meistervereinigung Gastronom e.V.).

Assessment criteria for the submitted products include degree of innovation, practical relevance, functionality and user friendliness, environmental compatibility, endurance, recycling, hygiene and operational safety. Economy of use and implementation, design and sustainability are also considered by the independent jury in their assessment.

As the winners are already announced in November 2017 they enjoy a high level of media attention even before the trade fair begins. During Intergastra the winners have the opportunity to present themselves and their concepts to around 100,000 trade visitors and decision-makers from the industry; the official prize ceremony is held during the ceremonial opening of Intergastra 2018.

The world of hospitality – This is the claim of Intergastra, one of the most important European trade fairs for gastronomy, hotels and dedicated hosts. In 2016, the comprehensive exhibition programme on over 100,000 square metres of exhibition space brought together just under 100,000 visitors and around 1,300 exhibitors from Germany and abroad.

And the success story continues: with the building of the new Exhibition Hall 10, Messe Stuttgart will offer 115,000 square metres more space for innovations and trends in 2018. The event therefore meets high expectations and regularly receives top marks from exhibitors and trade visitors alike.

Kitchen technology and food, ambience and equipment, services, handmade ice cream, beverages and coffee – these are the topics on which trade visitors from Germany and abroad obtain information, and which also encourage them to think outside the box.

The hospitable heart of Germany beats in the south-west, where at the start of the year Intergastra showcases innovations and trends, and provides many opportunities for the exchange of expert opinions and ideas.
