STUTTGART, Germany – Over 16 months before the trade fair, Intergastra, one of the most important European trade fairs for the gastronomy and hotel sectors, is starting to get ready: “Over 200 manufacturers have already registered before the official start. Including in particular many first-time exhibitors,” explains Markus Tischberger, Project Manager for Intergastra.

With its consistent orientation towards innovative topics, Intergastra has for years been looking at trends and providing information on the challenges facing the sector, and from 15 to 19 February 2020 will present the latest developments in Stuttgart.

The theme-based hall layout planning allows exhibitors to present their products in an optimum environment. Specialist visitors appreciate the clearly arranged, structured offers from the areas of kitchen technology, food, ambience and equipment for hotels and gastronomy, services, beverages and coffee, as well as Gelatissimo – the largest trade fair for the artisanal production of ice cream north of the Alps.

In addition, they benefit from the innovative framework programme, including the DEHOGA stage, the forum Fokus Hotel, the Coffee Summit and the partnership with the German International Hotel Association (IHA).

Optimum prospects for 2020

Intergastra 2018 was a total success! Many exhibitors praised the good responses at the trade fair stands. A total of 98,677 visitors from over 70 countries obtained information in Stuttgart from over 1400 exhibitors from around the world on the latest products and pioneering ideas – from state-of-the-art kitchen technology to the latest beverages, current food and coffee trends, as well as hotel fittings and furnishings.

With an average rating of 1.8, Intergastra received a consistently high score from specialist visitors. 82 per cent of visitors have already entered the next Intergastra on their appointments calendars, and 9 out of 10 visitors are involved in purchasing and procurement decisions.

For 2020, Messe Stuttgart anticipates an increase in numbers: Over 100,000 specialist visitors from the hotel and gastronomy sectors are expected to attend. INTERGASTRA in Stuttgart is thus one of the most important European trade fairs for gastronomy, hotels and dedicated hosts.

New: International cookery competition – for the first time in Stuttgart

In addition to the diverse events and presentations, in 2020 the IKA/Culinary Olympics, one of the world’s oldest international cookery competitions, will take place for the first time in Stuttgart parallel to Intergastra.

“In this competition, around 2000 cooks and patissiers from around 60 nations will compete and present their culinary creations, setting nutritional trends for the coming years. A special event which we’re really looking forward to!” says Tischberger. With great passion, teams of professional cooks will concentrate on creating the perfect balance of ingredients, preparation and presentation. In fair competition, for over 100 years new culinary trends have originated in this way. This international team contest is organised by the Association of German Cooks and will be held already for the 25th time in 2020.
