NAPLES, Italy – Interkom is launching the line “Yes, I am specialty!” dedicated to the sale of specialty coffees and is offering customers a variety of sophisticated and sustainable solutions, the result of a new collaboration with Umami Honduras. At the same time, it is launching its e-commerce portal where roasters will be able to purchase the various batches of special coffees.

For over 40 years, Interkom has been working in all areas of the coffee chain, offering its customers superior products and services.

From today it is expanding this vision: the launch of the “Yes, I am specialty!” line marks its opening to the specialty coffee market, with the Neapolitan green coffee trader extending its range of products and providing Italian and foreign roasters with a range of products increasingly in line with quality, sustainability and reliability requirements.

A great many new features accompany this turning point, first and foremost the collaboration with Umami Honduras, the international cooperation project aimed at sustainability in the cultivation of high-quality coffee.

Launched in 2017 through an international group of owners, Umami Honduras acquired its first plantation in the area of Las Capucas – Corquin, in the Copán region, where high-grade Arabica Catuaí, Bourbon, Typica and Lempira beans are harvested each year.

Not just Honduras. Thanks to its network and relationships with the various producers forged over many years, Interkom provides selected batches of specialty coffee from Colombia, El Salvador and Guatemala. Over the coming months the trader intends to further increase its product offering with new varieties from other producing regions.

The advantage for roasters will be extended by the far-reaching logistical network with which the company is developing the import of its coffees: this will allow a single package, protected by a hard box, to be purchased without being required to opt for a full container.

A significant benefit which will enable more quality imports by taking advantage of intermodal freight transport used by Interkom.

Customer distribution and logistics activities will be coordinated by the facilities which the trader uses in Italy: from the hubs located in the Nola and Bologna freight terminals, with over 15,000 square metres of space available, to the various offices in Trieste, Venice, Genoa, Gioia Tauro, Salerno and Civitavecchia.

This new line is being launched just a few weeks away from Host Milano, the most important fair in the coffee sector, which every two years gathers together coffee experts and lovers from around the world.

From 18 to 22 October it will be possible to cup the new specialty coffees at the company’s exhibition spaces at stand T10 T14 – pavilion 22, and to participate in guided tasting sessions at the following times:

  • Friday 18/10/19 – 11.30 and 15.30 – Honduras Washed Micro Lot Special Preparation Finca Rio Aruco
  • Saturday 19/10/19 – 11.30 and 15.30 – Colombia Sundried Excelso EP 10% Estate Coffee La Guamera
  • Sunday 20/10/19 – 11.30 a d 15.30 – El Salvador Honey Orange Bourbon SHG Special Preparation Finca Buenos Aires
  • Monday 21/10/19 – 11.30 and 15.3 – Guatemala Washed SHB EP Special Praparation Finca Peña Blanca

The release of new products on the market comes at the same time as the launch of Interkom’s e-commerce portal, where customers can order the various batches of specialty coffee directly.

This is absolutely a innovation for the European and Italian market, where very few other players have developed an online purchase platform. By registering on the website, users can access their own private area, view and select the coffees they wish to order, specify the quantity and proceed directly to the payment. Thanks to Interkom’s transport network, they will receive the bags directly at their address.

The new website can already be viewed at www.interkom.it and promises to revolutionise supply procedures for roasters.

The company

Interkom was founded in 1977 and is specialised in the raw coffee trade. The headquarter in Naples is the core of the company’s trading, logistics and quality control operations and is where the facilities forming its network are coordinated, in particular the Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

The success achieved over the years has meant the company to always offer new products and services to roasters, increasing the range of origins available and providing assistance and advice in creating personalised blends.

With the launch of the sale of the new line of specialty coffees, Interkom is adding a new element to its already rich range of solutions and confirms its place as a key trader for Italian and international roasters.
