HAMBURG – For an overview of the tremendous bandwidth of the coffee market and its trailblazing innovations, there is no better place to come than INTERNORGA, to be held in Hamburg from 14 to 19 March 2014.
More than 70 exhibitors, including all the brand leaders and lots of newcomers with innovative concepts, will be presenting the hot topics of the coffee scene in five halls at the trade show in Hamburg – with novelties on display, top baristas in action, and plenty of caffeine know-how for expert discussions.
They have good reason for doing so – coffee remains the undisputed number one in Germany’s beverage charts, with stable per capita consumption of nearly 150 litres a year. It is good for restaurants and hotels, too – every fourth cup of coffee consumed in Germany is served out-of-home.
INTERNORGA is the meeting place for the European coffee scene “All the leading representatives of the coffee trade will be in Hamburg in March for INTERNORGA,” says Claudia Johannsen, Project Director INTERNORGA.
“The large number of coffee exhibitors underscores the enormous market significance and the stable high potential of this product group – from single-serve concepts to filter machines and fully automated coffee makers, from Schümli blends for automated coffee makers to unusual and exotic specialities”.
The current watchwords of the industry are Quality before Quantity, transparent trading, certified origin, and careful preparation.
The product range includes high-quality roast coffee from Heimbs, Blasercafé and many other ambitious roasters, original Italian Macchine da caffè models, such as Cimbali and Unic, to versatile fully automated machines from JURA and WMF. “We will present innovations in all sectors at INTERNORGA 2014,” says Frank Hilgenberg, Marketing Director at J.J.Darboven.
“There will be so much to discover in coffee, tea and drinking chocolate, from additions to product ranges to completely new brand worlds. We can see growth potentials in all three segments.”
Coffee as a stable source of revenues The coffee boom continues, as all the experts agree. “In 2013 our customers ordered more coffee than ever before,” reports Ralf D. Gnewkow, Head of Sales and Technical Customer Service Central Europe, a member of the Management Board of Melitta SystemService.
“There is great demand for our wide range of coffees for the hospitality industry, and more than ever also our range of organic and fair trade certified range. And the trend is towards quality. Customers set high standards for coffee. That is why we are particularly looking forward to INTERNORGA.
We invite everyone to our new stand, where exhibits include our newly developed fully automated coffee machine Melitta Cafina XT 6.” Practice shows that coffee is a steady revenue earner for any F&B enterprise – regardless of company size, sales volume and target group.
The “majors” continue their success stories – in 2013 Starbucks had their best ever business year in their 42-year history, and Aral is Germany’s biggest Coffee-To-Go retailer with 80,000 coffees per day. The “small businesses” score with their attention to detail – micro-roasters supply individual roasts for aromatic filter coffee from the AeroPress, and there is a real boom in exclusive coffee varieties with specified place of origin.
Trends 2014 Coffee outlets that want to get the most out of this beverage have to serve classic coffees and put new items on their coffee menu. There is enough hot news around. Gone are the days when cafés could specify that “coffee outdoors is served only in pots”; people are prepared to pay a good price for quality.
A coffee bar will not fill up by serving just caffè crema – it needs to provide all kinds of toppings, blends, and iced coffee creations. Espresso-shot, cool cocktail or cupping campaign – no other beverage is as versatile and at the same time as classic and en vogue as coffee.
Exciting trends for 2014 outdoor season include for example the cold brew coffee trend from the USA, using the drip concept with coffee extract and ice cubes. For more on this, and for lots of useful tips and convincing concepts for contemporary all-time classic coffees, come to INTERNORGA 2014 in Hamburg.
