LEIXLIP, Co. Kildare – Intel Ireland has recently played host to the biggest single coffee morning as part of a nationwide initiative in aid of Hospice and sponsored by Bewley’s.

‘Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, which is now in it’s 21st year, encourages people across the country to enjoy a cup of coffee with friends or colleagues and raise much needed funds for local hospice services.

More than 4,000 cups of coffee were enjoyed at Intel by employees across the campus with Hospice donations being made for each cup. Along with the donations made for coffee, employees participated in cake sales and raffles to help support the Hospice services. Throughout the day there was a phenomenal response towards the campaign with a total of over €8,000 being raised.

To coincide with the attempt to become Ireland’s biggest coffee morning the Intel campus in Leixlip became home to the ‘Breakfast with Hector’ show on RTÉ 2FM. The show was broadcast from 7am – 9am in Intel’s IR2 canteen and gave morning listeners a taste of life at Ireland’s very own Silicon valley.

The coffee morning event at Intel was also joined by Bewley’s representative Patrick Bewley who spoke of Bewley’s commitment to the coffee morning for more than 20 years, he commented “the work done by the Hospice is phenomenal and we couldn’t get a better fit for our sponsorship”.

Patrick also confirmed that with more than 4,000 cups of coffee being serves across the campus that Intel was in fact the biggest coffee morning in the country.

Intel is supporting a number of Irish Hospices as part of its 2013 Signature Charity program which gives employees the opportunity to dedicate their efforts towards providing volunteer time and funds, raised through specially organised activities, to specially chosen organisations.

Intel Ireland Communication’s Manager Sarah Sexton was delighted with the success of the event “we’re thrilled to see so many employees getting involved in the coffee morning and giving so generously in support of the fantastic work done by the Hospices. There has been a wonderful spirit throughout the event and Intel is proud to have been a part of this national campaign”.
