MILAN – In Italy, these items are all considered pleasures of the table – Bread, Pizza and  Pasta. So it should come as no surprise that they are so representative of Italy’s cuisine around the world.

Thus bread, pizza and pasta will play a main role during the next edition of Host – International Hospitality Exhibition, which is to take place  in Fieramilano from Friday, 23 October 2015 to Tuesday, 27 October 2015.

This edition of Host2015 is particularly important as it will perfectly coincide with the close of the six months of Expo Milano 2015, the World’s Fair in Milan, which is to be dedicated to the topic of food. It will take place in an area adjacent to the exhibition centre from 1 May to 31 October.

Beyond this amazing opportunity, the show itself offers further potential for growth in the industry thanks to its positioning in a single large area along with the Food Service Equipment section. This will serve to make the most of the similarities between these industries.

The global concept of Host, which is a one-of-a-kind event, embraces the entire Ho.Re.Ca. industry thanks to two large areas dedicated respectively to Coffee/Tea along with Bars, Coffee Machines, Vending and Gelato/Pastry along with Furniture and Tableware.

This has come about out of conversations with industry professionals and is meant to meet their needs in the most efficient way.

In fact, companies are quite pleased about these developments. So much so, that more than a year before the show opens, there are 700 companies that have already confirmed they will participate.

The 2013 edition also saw record numbers with 1,700 exhibitors from 48 countries (+6.5% with 350 new participants), including 559 from abroad (+16.5%) and 133,000 professionals (+7% on 2011), 38.7% of which were international (51,600; +21% on 2011).

There were double-digit increases for the U.S. (+28%), Russia (+64%), UAE (+141%), Japan (+24%) and Germany (+14%) while there were 1,500 targeted international buyers with large delegations from China, Russia and India. A good 38,400 business appointments were requested thanks to the Expo Matching Program digital agenda.

Those from the Bread, Pizza and Pasta industry are responding with particular enthusiasm.

Thanks to constant innovative efforts, this year there are various positive signs ahead of the main economic indicators.

According to estimates from the industry association ANIMA-Assofoodtec, the Machines and equipment for pasta makers and extruded foods segment will grow in 2014 by a further 2.1%, after last year’s growth of 6.7% for a turnover of 245 million euros.

Of this amount, 175 million euros (71%) due to exports where in the third trimester of 2013, Mexico (+627%), Egypt (+422%) and Russia (+350%) saw numbers in the triple digits.

Positive signs for Machines and ovens for bread, biscuits, pastry and pizza, which is worth 648 million euros (+.9%), of which 406 million euros are exports (63%). Even here for the same period, new economic powers like Mexico (+177%) and Brazil (150%) take the lion’s share but the United Kingdom (+157%) stands out as well.

Finally, there’s growth for Machines and systems for mills, feed mills and silos (+1%) as well. This sector will see turnover of 212 million euros this year thanks almost entirely to exports, which account for 90%, equal to 190 million euros (+1.1%).

In fact, in this segment, the export index has almost doubled compared to the beginning of the crisis (190 compared to 100 in 2009). Among the destination markets, new importers like Nigeria and Uruguay stand out, but the Ukraine (+224%), India (169%), Poland (+74%) and China (+66%) also have impressive numbers.

These international markets are growing, and this is why Host represents both an access point for Italian-made excellence as well as an important occasion for foreign-to-foreign market exchange. One example can be seen in the large presence of leading companies in the oven sector.

Like Bake Off Italiana with its innovative steam ovens with annular tubes meant for cooking bread and pastry items.

These ovens are made entirely in steel and the quality of the food is equal to food cooked in the old brick ovens.

Then there is Cuppone F.lli who for more than 50 years with its electric and gas pizza ovens as well as other machines has taken the tradition of Italian pizza around the world. Marana Forni, the inventor of the rotary oven, will also be at the show to display its latest innovations.
