JUAN VALDEZ CAFE – Procafecol opens its 200th store in Colombia

BOGOTA – Juan Valdez Café, the brand and retail chain of Colombian premium coffee, opened its 200th store in Colombia last week. Located in Bogota’s Zona Rosa, the new café offers customers the highest quality coffee, various brewing methods, detailed information about origin and interactive activities led by expert baricultors – a Spanish term that describes someone who represents both a coffee grower and a barista.

Juan Valdez Café opened its first store in December 2002. Today, there are 200 Juan Valdez Cafés operating in 23 Colombian cities and 5 smaller towns. According to Hernán Mendez, President of Procafecol S.A, the company that manages the Juan Valdez brand and retail chain, “Opening our 200th store in Colombia is very significant. It reaffirms that the phenomenon associated with Colombian premium coffee is not just limited to large cities, but is also present in the regions and intermediate cities where Juan Valdez is now part of everyday life.”

99 of the 200 Juan Valdez cafés that are currently operating in Colombia are located in Bogota, Colombia´s capital city. At an international level, Juan Valdez has opened 89 cafés in 13 different countries including Aruba, Bolivia, Chile, South Korea, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, United States, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Panama and Peru.
