VIENNA, Austria – The hospitality sector can benefit from a chain reaction of kindness this April as premium coffee roasters Julius Meinl today announce the launch of its new ‘Say Thank You’ activation. The global initiative is designed to express gratitude to Julius Meinl’s loyal partners and encourage them to pass kindness on to their customers.
As the Vienna coffee brand celebrates its 160th anniversary, cafes and restaurants around the world can participate in the free, easy-to-action marketing initiative to increase coffee consumption and loyalty with their customers. Inspired by the ‘power of thank you’, the initiative encourages Julius Meinl coffee lovers to order a coffee and receive a complimentary voucher to pass on as a kind gesture to friends or family.
Partners will receive 1kg of premium Julius Meinl coffee beans to fuel the initiative, and the brand will uphold its reputation for providing expertise, know-how and best-in-class service as well as unique marketing tools for its customers. Participating Say Thank You outlets will therefore be provided with a POS kit and selected regions will see PR and social media support to drive footfall and attract new customers through the initiative.
Christina Meinl, Managing Director of Julius Meinl Austria and fifth-generation family member explains: “For every coffee ordered we are giving customers a voucher for a complimentary cup of Julius Meinl to pass on to a special person, inviting them to say ‘thank you’ and share a meaningful moment together. A simple gesture that makes a positive difference to people’s lives.
“The inititiative is designed to support our loyal HoReCa partners. Last year we saw return rates of up to 80% amongst participating outlets following a similar activation. The ‘Say Thank You’ initiative is therefore about helping our partners to drive new business and bond with their guests to increase loyalty.”
The power of ‘thank you’
The launch of ‘Say Thank You’ coincides with the latest research from Julius Meinl which found that the simple act of saying ‘thank you’ with a cup of coffee is one of the most appreciated ways to spread kindness.
Conducted by OnePoll, the study of 4,000 adults from across Vienna, Milan, Zagreb and Bucharest, found that such simple, small gestures can have a transformative effect on people’s lives. The survey revealed the power of saying ‘thank you’, with the majority (90%) of respondents more likely to thank others throughout the day if someone else has thanked them, and over a half (59%) saying it boosts their mood when they do so.
On average, people are thanked 11 times during a typical day, and as a result, go on to thank a further 15 others during that same day. For every ‘thank you’ received, more thanks are given, creating a multiplier effect that can positively uplift friends, family, colleagues and even strangers.
Christina adds: “Our survey found that 79% of people believe that inviting someone for a coffee is a great way to express gratitude and we were inspired to shape our initiative around this very notion. It also struck us that over a third of respondents agree that they are much more likely to say thank you following the pandemic, which reminded us how important it is for us to show our gratitude to our partners – it has been challenging two years for the hospitality business.”
A simple yet powerful gesture
The initiative launches on 20th April until 30th April 2022. All participating outlets will receive 160 vouchers, two posters, a door sticker, 20 table tent cards and 1kg of Premium Julius Meinl coffee beans, and an instruction guide.
With the #saythankyou hashtag, the coffee roaster will also support participating outlets’ social media activity, generating more traffic to the business’s social channels when official Julius Meinl content is reshared.
