HAWTHORN EAST VIC, Australia — Monday the 1st of October 2018 marks International Coffee Day, a day where over 45 countries celebrate coffee as a beverage. Jura leads the way for a more sustainable future of coffee in Australia – urging Australians to take the leap and say goodbye to pods, by taking active steps to reduce their environmental footprint.

Sylvia Occhipinti, National Retail Manager at Jura says, “We are very excited to be celebrating International Coffee Day. This years theme, ‘women in coffee’, is all about empowering all women in the coffee community. I am very pleased to see the encouragement and recognition of women in the industry.

“Our head office based in Melbourne is actually made up of 72% inspiring women employees and our sales reps team is 40% female. Girl power for sure!” adds Sylvia.

International Coffee Day is one of JURA’s favourite days of the year. Jura reveals that recent research that 87% of Australians drink between 1 and 3 coffees per day, women being more likely than men to indicate that they cannot survive a day without one. Jura is also pleased to share that 78% of those Australian coffee drinkers are concerned about the environmental impact of coffee pods and takeaway coffee cups*.

Sylvia says, “Our Managing Director George Liakatos actually poached me 11 years ago now, I was his first employee! So I’ve been with Jura Australia from the very beginning, it’s been a long time. My love and passion for what I do only grows day by day.”
