KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – The most talented baristas from across Asia will converge on Kuala Lumpur on Saturday 6 August 2016 to determine who can make the very best espresso as Gloria Jean’s Coffees searches for its best coffee maker, including Hsiu-yi Lin, Gloria Jean’s Coffees Operations Manager from Beijing.
The winner from the Regional Final will progress to the Global Grand Final, held on the Gold Coast, Australia in September this year.
Gloria Jean’s Coffees International Barista Championship invites the brand’s dedicated and skilled baristas from across the globe to create their best espresso, latte and espresso-based signature beverage, with competitors judged on beverage taste, technique and presentation.
Gloria Jean’s Coffees Market Development Manager Phi Nguyen said she is proud to have more than ten competitors competing in the Asia regional finals, representing eight Asian nations.
“At Gloria Jean’s Coffees we are dedicated to serving our customers the perfect cup of coffee, and our baristas are training every day and refining their skills,” said Phi.
“We are proud to have so many talented baristas competing in the Asia final, and are excited to send one lucky coffee lover to Australia to take on other competition finalists from Europe, Middle East, Africa and the South Pacific.”
As well as the title of Asia Barista Champion, the winner will receive flights and accommodation in Australia to attend the RFG International Barista Championships, where they will compete for the chance to win AUD$3,000 cash and the title of RFG International Barista Champion.
The Global Grand Final extends to all coffee brands in the portfolio of Retail Food Group (ASX:RFG), the franchisor of the Gloria Jean’s Coffees system, including Donut King, Michel’s Patisserie and Cafe2U.
