The Pie Hole, a gourmet pie and coffee shop based in Los Angeles, signed a multi-unit franchise agreement to expand into Saudi Arabia. The deal gives exclusive rights to the territory to local franchisee, Abdulrhman Alrajhi, who will begin with a ten-unit development plan, according to a press release.
Alrajhi is no stranger to the restaurant business. His family has operated multiple franchised locations for Gloria Jean’s Coffee and It’s A Grind Coffee House. Alrajhi plans to open The Pie Hole in high-traffic areas with high-site visibility and accessibility, paying close attention to site strategy and real estate options.
“The Pie Hole is such a unique, innovative, and welcoming concept, and I know their tasty gourmet pies and specialty coffee will be a refreshing addition to the Riyadh food scene, which is currently booming,” Alrajhi said in the release. “The diverse and indulgent menu of sweet and savory pies makes it an attractive option for multiple day-parts, and, by positioning the locations in high-traffic areas, the brand is sure to achieve maximum exposure in this promising new market.”
The Pie Hole was founded in 2011, by Becky Grasley in order to bring her 4-generations-old family recipes to the masses. Every menu item is made from scratch and by-hand, featuring both traditional and modern pie flavors of the sweet and savory variety. Menu mainstays include their signature Earl Grey Tea Pie, Mom’s Apple Crumble, Mac ‘n Cheese Pot Pie and Cereal Killer Cheesecake, according to the release.
The handmade pie concept operates eight locations across Southern California and three locations in Tokyo, Japan.
