MILAN – The “revolutionary” V6 keeps turning heads. The famous dual-sided, lever-driven coffee machine from La San Marco, designed in partnership with Bonetto Design, has been selected by the ADI Design Permanent Observatory for publication in the ADI Design Index 2019.

This publication, presented for the first time on 14 October at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, celebrates the best of Italian design brought into production during the previous year, and is the first publication in the two-year cycle dedicated to the designs that will take part in the ADI Compasso d’Oro ADI 2020 awards.

For the 2019 edition, 226 products have reached the finals, selected from over 900 applications. These products all stand out for their originality and innovation, the production processes used, the materials chosen and the incisiveness of their form. Other important qualities are of course respect for the environment, public and social value, attention to user-friendliness, interaction and design for all.

“We are proud of this milestone,” declared Roberto Nocera, General Director of La San Marco. “It is a prestigious recognition of the V6’s great qualities, not only in terms of its technology, design and safety standards, but also from the viewpoint of the consumer experience. V6 brings the art of coffee making back to centre stage, and is an invitation to rediscover the bar as a place to socialize, meet and share”.

V6: design

The remarkable, unique design draws its inspiration from the shapes of the motorsport world in the ’60s and ’70s, and was conceived by Bonetto Design. “Our work focused on merging the concepts of elegance, purity, precision, and mechanical and automotive traditions,” explains Marco Bonetto.

“Its bold, sculptural lines succeed in maintaining a certain lightness, thanks to the various transparent windows, in a perfect balance of different weights.”

Powerful and sculpted, V6 conveys all the power of a throbbing engine. The hydroformed steel chassis, with its painted finish and tempered glass, highlights the great technical skill of La San Marco in processing its materials, and draws attention to its splendid components and the meticulous precision of its internal processes.

On display at Host Milano

At the Host Milano fair, to be held from 18 to 22 October, V6 will be on display in the “PULL YOUR OWN COFFEE” area of the La San Marco stand (Pav. 24 Stand B60/C51). Visitors accessing this area will have the opportunity to enjoy an excellent cup of coffee from the machine selected for the ADI Design Index, and can even try their hand at the art of extraction.
