LONDON, UK – Lavazza will be partnering with UK Coffee Week for a third year as official coffee sponsor.  Established in 1895 in Turin, the Italian coffee company has been owned by the Lavazza family for four generations. Among the world’s most important roasters, the Group currently operates in more than 90 countries through subsidiaries and distributors, with 63% of revenues coming from markets outside of Italy.

Lavazza created the concept of blending – or in other words the art of combining different types of coffee from different geographic areas – this continues to be a distinctive feature of most of its products.

It was during a 1935 trip to South America that Luigi Lavazza expressed his disappointment at seeing the destruction of entire coffee crops that had gone unsold: an experience that affected him deeply and ultimately shaped his vision of how business should be conducted.

Since then, Lavazza have always paid careful attention to the economic, human, environmental and cultural heritage of the countries in which we work. Over the years, this has translated into concrete action in support of producers and their communities, as well as in meaningful assistance for organisations operating across the globe.

The objective of Lavazza is to create a continuous cycle in which product and process innovation, qualitative excellence and sustainability feed each other, thanks to the contribution of all the people who cooperate with us to improve, day after day, on the path to sustainable growth.

As a returning official partner of UK Coffee Week, Lavazza’s support is invaluable in helping Project Waterfall to reach even more people in coffee growing communities with clean drinking water and sanitation.

Their support this year will help Project Waterfall in their latest initiative to bring clean water and sanitation to 10,000 people in the coffee growing community of Jabi Tehnan, Ethiopia.
