MILAN – Sweden’s Löfbergs Group has announced the full acquisition of Danish coffee roaster Peter Larsen Kaffe, in which it already held a majority stake. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. “Löfbergs acquired a 50% stake in Peter Larsen Kaffe in 2002 and has since gradually increased its ownership” said the company in a statement to Comunicaffe International.
“Now, Löfbergs acquires the remaining minority stake. Since our entry, Peter Larsen Kaffe has grown significantly, increasing its market share fivefold and becoming one of Denmark’s leading coffee brands.
Alongside our businesses in Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and the UK, Peter Larsen Kaffe plays a key role in our international growth.
The expansion is also driven by our investments to secure larger international contracts and establishing ourselves in new markets.
With Claus Bertelsen staying on as CEO until the end of July, we have time to find his successor. Together with our skilled and engaged Danish colleagues, we remain fully committed to strengthening our presence in Denmark.”
One of the largest roasters in the Nordic countries, the Swedish based coffee group Löfbergs is a Family Business founded in 1906.
The company produces 12 million cups of coffee per day and is one of the world’s largest purchasers of organic and Fairtrade-labeled coffee.
In 2021, Löfbergs opened a $227 million state-of-the-art roasting complex in its headquarters of Karlstad.
