KARLSTAD, Sweden — The coffee roaster Löfbergs is building a new production facility for whole beans in Karlstad, Sweden. If all goes as planned, the new facility will be operational by the turn of the year 2020/2021.
– We are investing closer to SEK 200 million, which makes this the largest investment in the history of Löfbergs, says Lars Appelqvist, CEO at Löfbergs.
The new facility, where Löfbergs will roast and pack whole beans, will have a capacity of 7,000 tonnes per year during normal operation. Start of construction will be in the spring of 2019.
An investment in the future
The background to the investment is that the demand for whole beans has increased significantly the last couple of years. The possibilities of expanding the current facility in central Karlstad are limited, and that is why Löfbergs chooses a solution in the outskirts of the city, where the company opened a new modern high-bay warehouse in 2016.
– This is an investment in the future that strengthens us both locally and internationally, and that makes it possible for us to continue to grow and gain market shares, says Lars Appelqvist.
