HO CHI MINH CITY – Low coffee prices are deterring investments in coffee crop renewal in Vietnam.

According to Vietnam New Agency, coffee growers in the province of Dak Lak, the country’s largest producer of the crop, have achieved only 50% of their target of replacing 4,259 ha of old trees with new ones in the rainy season.

With current prices at multi-year lows, farmers prefer to keep their trees that can be more than 20 years old.
