HAMBURG, Germany – Among coffee pros it is universally acknowledged that MAHLKOENIG is the byword for grinding expertise and innovation in the catering trade.

Since the appearance to great acclaim of Matthew Perger at the World Brewers Cup 2012 in Vienna and the World Barista Championship 2013 in Melbourne with the MAHLKOENIG EK43, the expertise of the Hamburg-based retail grinder manufacturer has also once again taken centre stage.

Matt Perger, who, as brand ambassador for MAHLKOENIG, passes on his deep knowledge of coffee grinding at workshops and trade fairs, uses the EK43 retail grinder to grind “coffee shots” which he then prepares using an espresso machine.

The young Australian enjoys breaking new ground in his preparation of coffee; nor is his choice of grinding technique constrained by normal industry standards. His favourite in this regard is the EK43.

The grinder is set to be one of the highlights of the MAHLKOENIG trade fair stand and will be in constant use at the stand’s own Brew Bar to show just why some of the world’s most innovative baristas swear by this grinder.

The K30 Grind-on-demand grinder has now established itself as a classic on the coffee scene for the fresh portion-by-portion grinding of espresso.

The two original models ES and Vario have given rise to a complete family of grinders with numerous model versions designed to satisfy every special requirement of the catering trade.

Whatever you need it to have – cash register integration (K30 Cash Interface), an individual design (K30 ODM) or three pre-programmable dispensing volumes for different sizes of beverage (K30 Triple), two grinding mechanisms for the use of two different coffee types (K30 TWIN) or air cooling for a particularly low grinding temperature and optimal aroma protection (K30 Air) – there’s barely a requirement that the K30 grinder family can’t satisfy. The K30 family will be presented in its entirety at the trade fair -and the expert MAHLKOENIG staff will be happy to explain the benefits of the individual models.

A collaboration with French coffee machine maker UNIC has recently given rise to a wholly new variant of the K30 grinder: the K30 PFD (Porta Filter Detection).

Thanks to its patented system the grinder automatically detects the inserted portafilter, and, as up to four different dispensing volumes can be set, you no longer need to select the quantity of coffee in advance. In this way the right amount of coffee is automatically dispensed, thereby reducing waste (and costs).

With this system, grinding is faster at the espresso bar, and the need for corrections is ruled out along with mistakes in setting.

If you want to know how this system works and what benefits it brings for coffee bar owners and baristas, come and see for yourself on the MAHLKOENIG trade fair stand at the Internorga 2014 (14-19 March) in Hall B2 ground floor, stand 201.

MAHLKÖNIG is the official 2012 – 14 espresso grinder sponsor of the WBC, WLAC, CIGS and grinder sponsor of the WCTC.
