The High Commission of Sri Lanka participated in the inaugural Malaysia International Tea & Coffee Expo 2014 (MITCE 2014) which was held in Kuala Lumpur from 27 to 31 March.
The Fair was a unique tea and coffee promotional event in Malaysia, co- organised by the Tea Trade Association of Malaysia, Malaysia Muslim Restaurant Owners’ Association and Perstauan Pengusaha Serbuk Kopi & Teh Selangor & W.P with the support of the diplomatic missions of Sri Lanka, Kenya, Indonesia and Vietnam in Kuala Lumpur.
More than 100 tea and coffee sector buyers and suppliers participated in the event.
The Fair was inaugurated by the Malaysian Minister of Tourism & Culture, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Bin Abdul Aziz. He visited the Sri Lanka Stand and tasted a cup of Pure Ceylon Tea. High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Ibrahim Ansar and the President of the Malaysia Muslim Restaurant Owners’ Association opened the Sri Lanka Stand.
At the invitation of the High Commission “Anew Ceylon Tea and Spices Ltd”, a newly established tea and spice company was represented at the Sri Lanka Stand and exhibited a wide range of their Pure Ceylon Tea products.
R. Jayaprakash, Manager (Export) of “Anew Ceylon Tea and Spices Ltd” made a presentation on Pure Ceylon Tea during the event and also participated in the Teh Tarik – 2014 competition organised by the Malaysia Muslim Restaurant Owners’ Association.
