Manchester Coffee Festival – formerly known as Cup North – returns to Victoria Warehouse for its third consecutive year on November 4-5, 2017, complete with an expanded range of brews and traders.
Expect the usual line up of local artisan coffee roasters, coffee tastings, and latte art competitions alongside a huge range of workshops, talks and exhibitions.
Here are the unmissable events at this year’s festival.
Tamper Tantrum
This year sees the return of Tamper Tantrum, on a mission to bring the best of the specialty coffee industry to the north of England. Look out for their coffee home brew competition Brubiaceae, as well as the evening panel discussion (5pm to 7pm) for those who want to kick back, relax, and have a bit of a giggle.
Sustainability Hub
Global sustainability learning collective ReFashionReFood have teamed up with Stockport’s B’Spoke Coffee to host hands-on workshops taking place across the weekend to inspire less wasteful living. Use your creative energy to redesign coffee sacks and other coffee-related waste in the ReCreate Waste workshop at 1.30, or learn about organic farming and its importance for both coffee taste and quality of life in ReEarth at 3pm, both on Sunday.
Cupping Lab
Drop in to the cupping lab for a whole day full of short back-to-back coffee tastings run by some legendary coffee houses and brewing experts. Berlin-based coffee shop The Barn will be showing us how its done at 11.30am Saturday, followed by a taste of South American beans at 12.30.
Street Food Traders
All that caffeine on an empty stomach is not a good plan. Make time to visit the street food traders, which this year includes the award winning Dim Sum Su. Choose from the likes of belly pork steamed buns, or aubergine and tofu served with miso, kimchi, and rice.
Has Bean
The coffee heavyweights Has Bean return to the festival this year with an enlightening line up of events, including meet the farmer sessions at 1pm and 3pm Sunday, and a taster of the coffee Dale Harris is taking to the World Barista Championship in 2017.
