FLORENCE, Italy – La Marzocco, a leading company in the design, production, and the sales and marketing of traditional espresso coffee machines, has always been dedicated to researching technologies and solutions capable of improving the overall quality of espresso coffee.
In the over 90 years it has been in business, La Marzocco has inspired the world of espresso coffee machines by introducing disruptive innovations that have later become industry standards. These include groundbreaking technology such as the horizontal boiler, the double boiler, and pressure profiling.
La Marzocco and the use of scales on coffee machines
In the past years – alongside Marco Beverage Systems (manufacturer of innovative and energy-efficient beverage dispensing solutions) – La Marzocco has brought the integrated scale technology to the espresso machine market, offering professional baristas a technology capable of controlling and programming the dispensed amount of beverage by mass rather than by volume; by displaying the time and mass directly from the machine during extraction, baristas are constantly able to control the extraction of the beverage.
In the spirit of the continuous search for excellence, and to raise the general quality of the sector, La Marzocco and Middleby Corporation, owner of Marco Beverage Systems and Synesso, have decided to surrender the IP rights protecting the innovation of the scales integrated into the espresso coffee machines.
Paul Stack, Managing Director, Marco Beverage System: “Marco Beverage Systems, a leader in innovative beverage technology, is proud to have been the first to bring patented in-built weighing scale technology to the espresso machine market over a decade ago with La Marzocco. The Middleby Corporation, owner of Marco and Synesso, amongst other leading beverage brands, is happy to support La Marzocco and see this technology made available to the market at large as part of our continuous drive to make excellent coffee ubiquitous through technology and design.”
This initiative was carried out to further the path of sharing technologies and extraction methods, making them more accessible for the betterment of coffee quality.
Finally, La Marzocco continues to pursuit innovation with Auto Brew Ratio, a technology allowing the barista to keep the concentration ratio of the coffee beverage, and generally its organoleptic properties unchanged, as the conditions surrounding the espresso machine vary.
