ATHENS, Greece – Just over a year after the launch of the first manual coffee grinder, the new Omega X model is born: it will be available to coffee lovers starting from June. After a successful year, it’s time to go a step further, and add a new model alongside Omega to offer more choice to the coffee community. In fact, Omega X was born from a specific market demand, “you talked, we listened” is the claim that accompanies this launch.
Mazzer presents Omega X
Both coffee grinders allow all adjustments, from french press to ibrik, but Omega X differs from the Omega model in that it has a smaller step size adjustment. With 11-micron steps, three times smaller than the Omega, it offers even more control, especially ideal for espresso preparations.
Conversely, for those who favor reading convenience, the Omega model offers the ultimate ease of use, with all preparations set in a single turn of the dial so that the numerical reference is always the same.
No compromises is the philosophy behind the entire development process. No compromises from a construction point of view. Omega is created from a single aluminum bar. It features high-tech stainless steel ball bearings to ensure smooth movement and precise coupling.
It is made from the best materials, stainless steel, anodized aluminum and carbon fiber, selected to ensure maximum precision and guarantee the least weight for easy transport. Low-speed machining creates organic shapes for the best user experience and is pleasing to the touch. The special anodizing process makes surfaces harder and more scratch-resistant, allowing outdoor use in all weather conditions. All components that come in contact with coffee are food safe certified.
No compromises in the utilization
The 47mm stainless steel conical burrs ensure the best parallelism over time and protect against oxidation in wet environments or RDT (Ross Droplet Technique). These burrs were designed and manufactured specifically for Omega in Mazzer’s factories to ensure the best in-cup result.
The grind adjustment is external and is made on a ring that is not in contact with the coffee for better convenience and hygiene.
The “true zero” calibration with the burr contact at point 0 allows the user to have a handy numerical index of settings in 360 degrees for the Omega and in three turns for the Omega X. The micro-click solution offers greater control over movement and prevents accidental shifts of the index also thanks to a pleasant, safe-like sound.
No compromises in ergonomics
Through neodymium magnets, the size is dramatically reduced when the product is not in use, thanks to the knob that can be integrated on the machine body and the carbon fiber lever that can be attached to the side.
The shape of the grinder allows easy loading of beans, the canister can be used to collect the ground coffe and to load the beans into the grinding chamber. The bottom of the coffee grinder can be unscrewed to grind directly into a bag, while the canister is compatible with the both with 58mm portafilters and the Aeropress, to streamline the workflow.
The user can also choose between two grinder setups: Soft for less effort during grinding, or Fast for increased productivity. To top it off, the device can be fully disassembled for complete cleaning without the use of tools and without losing the grind setting.
Another Omega-related innovation unveiled at WOC Athens is the new stainless steel and anodized aluminum lid, available with the accessories kit and designed to prevent beans from spilling in whatever position the grinder is in.
Omega and Omega X are produced in Mazzer’s factories near Venice, and can be purchased on Mazzer’s website in Europe and through the distributors network in the rest of the world.
