LONDON, UK – Over the last few months, the takeaway game has been changed forever. For those of you who have used Deliveroo or UberEATS, you’ll know this.
No longer do you have to take a guess at which takeaway looks the best, you can pick from incredible restaurants that you KNOW will be amazing.
Yeah, it’s a bit more expensive, but can you really put a price on your hangover cure? No. You cannot.
I remember being in university and all bundling into someone’s car and having to go through the drive-thru with last night’s Jägerbombs still in your hair.
In fact, I knew one bloke who would get a taxi to Maccies and back to halls just to get a breakfast. That’s dedication.
Maccies have finally listened to the public and decided to step into the delivery market.
They’re testing it in a small area of the UK initially, so don’t get too excited just yet. But this is what we’ve always wanted. Imagine getting a Maccies breakfast delivered?!
To be fair, they should make breakfast available all day, but let’s pick our battles.
A McDonald’s spokeswoman told the Mirror: “It is no secret we have been looking at the potential of delivery in recent months.
“This service is offered in other markets around the world and its growth within the UK continues to gather pace.
“Listening to our customers, we know that this is a route they would like us to explore, and I can confirm that we are looking to launch a small delivery pilot this summer.”
McDonald’s UK chief executive Paul Pomroy told the Telegraph: “We will start with a delivery service from the right number of sites that gives us scale.
“I expect we will take a similar approach to the way we rolled out our app, starting small, learning quickly and scaling up very quickly.”
They’re looking at doing the delivery service through an external service, so it could be through Uber or Deliveroo.
Mr Pomroy added: “What’s obvious to us now is that customers now would like McDonald’s to look at delivery.
“We think we’re going to start probably in June.
“We looked at other brands that already do delivery. We’re not the first to deliver. But we want to be a follower that does it in the right way.”
Well, now I’m hungry. Where’s good for a takeaway in Manchester?
