Strongly encouraged by its established leader position in the capsule fillers market, MG2 strengthens its engagement in the pharmaceutical / cosmetic packaging industry for which the company designs, produces and sells both end-of-line and serializations machines.

An excellent example is the project of a complete line designed for an important North-American multinational company, on behalf of which MG2 managed the integration process by supplying both a machine for the secondary packaging and a serialization system.

From design to installation at the customer site

MG2 coordinated a project aimed at the implementation of a packaging line for a morphine-based highly active pain relief product: this activity required great care during the steps of designing, integration and assembly of the machines.

This is the second line ordered in the last few months by the same customer, an American pharmaceutical multinational company, and it is a clear sign of the loyalty that MG2 earned in this field, not only as a supplier of machines and accessory units, but also as prime contractor for complex projects requiring, as in this case, the coordination of different manufacturers and system suppliers.

The line, which was set up at MG2 facility in Pian di Macina for FAT purposes, required a lot of flexibility in the design of the different machines making it up and it covers all the packaging phases up to the end of line.

To start, the processed bottles in five different sizes (from 50 to 240 ml) are placed into cartons of different sizes together with the additional necessary components (syringes, caps or droppers).

At a second stage, the information leaflet is inserted into the carton, with or without instructions. Besides MG2, the partners involved in the project are Cariba as far as packing into cartons is concerned and OPTEL who supplied the integrated in-line vision systems.

End of line and serialization signed by MG2

Reliability and precision, which represent the traditional trade mark of the capsule fillers MG2 has produced for more than 50 years, are also borrowed in both the designing and in the research of solutions for the packaging industry.

In this scope, the company based in Bologna can offer a portfolio of machines and systems capable to satisfy the most different needs, starting from cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies by proposing solutions which combine high technology, stability and flexibility. The ACE Track & Trace system is a perfect example.

Available in versions for bottles, cartons and bundles, it stands out thanks to both its versatility and its footprint which enables installation on pre-existing lines, even in limited small areas. The above-mentioned line includes an ACE CT/400 for cartons capable to print codes by laser with high quality and precision results at the same time.

This ACE has been set up to work at rather low speeds even if it can potentially reach a speed of 400 pieces/minute. As far as the end of line is concerned, MG2 shows off its horizontal case packer model GSL10: a machine suitable to form, fill and close RSC cases. In particular, the GSL10 model utilized for the above application is equipped with a serialization system produced by OPTEL. The line composed of the above machines represents a typical example of solution specially conceived for the North American market, which acts as reference market for MG2 machines in both the packaging and the process sectors.

Actually, this geographical area represents an important market both in terms of number and in terms of type of users, but at the same time, it is also the location where many companies based their headquarters (starting from small contractors up to the biggest multinational companies) to develop and pack pharmaceutical products to be allocated to both national and international markets.

North America is also the base for many institutional bodies such as the Federal and Drug Administration, which set some of the main reference rules in the pharmaceutical industry.
