MELBOURNE – For the first time in 2019, the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
The biggest dedicated coffee event in the Southern Hemisphere will be held from 7 to 9 February.
“The move is about an evolution. We want to step it up while also remembering and honouring our roots,” Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) Show Director Simon Coburn says.
MICE launched in 2012 with the purpose of bringing the global coffee community together and showcasing Australia’s contribution. This marks the first time MICE will not be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
“Moving MICE to such a central location will make the show easier than ever to attend,” Coburn says.
“We listened to exhibitor feedback, and we’ve responded with a more central and professional expo environment, suitable to withstand any weather condition – rain, hail, or shine.”
MCEC’s greater rigging and facilities will allow exhibitors to easily set-up larger and more sophisticated displays.
An Espresso Bar will offer roasters the opportunity to showcase their coffee in half-day blocks across all three days of MICE2019.
MICE has also changed its dates for 2019, moving from April to February, to accommodate the Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) Australian Coffee Championships.
“ASCA recognises the significance of MICE as Australia’s premier specialty coffee expo. ASCA has been partnering with MICE since its inception in 2012, when the event was created to give Australia its own dedicated meeting place for coffee professionals,” ASCA President Brent Williams says.
“With our mission being to advance specialty coffee in Australia, it makes perfect sense that we would achieve this goal in partnership with a flagship event like MICE. The Australian Coffee Championships are a fan favourite at MICE, and provide our competitors and sponsors with the opportunity to experience a world-class competition in our own backyard.”
Tickets to MICE2019 are now available to purchase, available at early-bird prices.
