MELBOURNE, Australia – MICE is proud to announce Melbourne Coffee Week, an entire week of coffee-fuelled events to honour the city’s coffee culture. The inaugural Melbourne Coffee Week will take place from 10 – 19 March, with Melbourne cafés and coffee roasters giving consumers a chance to taste their brews, learn more about coffee, and witness the exciting world of coffee competitions.

Melbourne Coffee Week is about growing the coffee industry and celebrating Melbourne’s coffee history. Some big names in the industry have already announced their events.

Highlights include the Australian Specialty Coffee Association (ASCA) National Pura Latte Art Championship, running 4 – 5 March and the Australian Coffee in Good Spirits Championship (CIGS) on 10 March. This year CIGS will take place at a trendy Melbourne’s CBD location. The night time event will double as a kick-off party to launch Melbourne Coffee Week.

Australian Brewers Cup Championship and Australian Huhtamaki Cup Tasters Championship at Veneziano Coffee Roasters on 11 March, the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria Australian International Coffee Awards ceremony on 16 March, and the National AeroPress Championships at Proud Mary Coffee Roasters on 17 March.

Just to make sure the city doesn’t sleep for MCW, MICE will then transform the Melbourne Showgrounds into a coffee lover’s paradise, while playing host to the Australian Barista Championship, from 17 – 19 March.

St Ali is opening its doors to the public from 6 – 10pm on 18 March.

“Melbourne Coffee Week is the perfect time for people to learn about what we do, understand why we’re passionate about what we do, and ask questions,” St Ali and Sensory Lab’s Ross Quail. “There’s so much knowledge in our industry that needs to be shared, and we want people to ask and be inquisitive about coffee.”

Registration for MCW is $100 and includes online event listing as well as additional promotion through MICE and MICE Media Partners.

All registration fees from MCW will be donated to StreetSmart, MICE’s official charity partner for 2016. The funds will assist StreetSmart with its action against homelessness, and raise awareness for small hard-to-reach services and projects around Melbourne.
