ICCO: Michel Arrion was reappointed as Executive Director

ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire – The International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) announced announce the confirmation of the reappointment of Michel Arrion as Executive Director for a period of 5 years until 30 September 2028. The confirmation was adopted during the 107th International Cocoa Council, which was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire from April 25th to 28th.

Michel Arrion has served as Executive Director of the ICCO since 2019 and has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission to promote a sustainable World Cocoa Economy.

Under his leadership, the ICCO has made significant progress in promoting transparency and cooperation within the cocoa sector.

During his tenure, Mr. Arrion has overseen a number of significant initiatives, including the establishment of a five-year strategic plan putting the farmers’ income at the core of the objectives of the organization, the improvement of the ICCO statistical information, and the strengthening of relationships with key stakeholders in the cocoa sector.

Mr. Arrion expressed his gratitude to the International Cocoa Council for the opportunity to continue serving the cocoa sector and highlighted the need for continued collaboration and innovation to address the challenges of the sector.

“The cocoa value chain is facing a number of complex challenges, from economic and social inequality to climate change,” said Mr. Arrion. “I am committed to working with our members and partners to develop innovative solutions that promote a sustainable and equitable cocoa economy.”
