MICRONESIA – Sendin, Hutchinson top 8th Marianas Coffee Trail Run

Charlie Sendin repeated his 2014 winning form and came in 20 seconds faster to finish first in the 8th Annual Marianas Coffee Trail Run on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Finishing first in the Female Category was Lorie Hutchinson, improving on her 2nd place finish last year.

Top place honors in the 20K course Male Category went to Sendin, who had also finished in 2nd place in 2013. He followed by Ronald Villafria  and Seiya Eda. In the Female Category, Hutchinson was followed by Kimiko McKagan, while 3rd place went to Maki Narita.

On the 10K course, top Male finishers were Keith Longuski, Cooper Achraudenbach , who improve on his 3rd place finish in 2014, and Jack Kabriel . Jennifer Cui placed 1st in the Female Category with her finish, followed by Terra Allen , and Sakido Eda.

Starting at sea level at American Memorial Park, the Marianas Coffee Trail features some of the greatest views and most challenging terrain of all foot races in the Northern Mariana Islands (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, in western Pacific subregion of Micronesia. Sites along the way include Japanese-era coffee plantations and the Marianas Coffee Co. plantation.

The annual signature event of the Northern Marianas drew 68 runners from the Northern Mariana Islands. This year’s run challenged 47 racers on the 10K course and 21 runners on the 20K course, which traversed from the Philippine Sea at American Memorial Park, around the peak of Mt. Tapochau, the highest point on island at about 1,500 feet above sea level, and back.
