GÃœTERSLOH/BERLIN, Germany – 25 years ago, the family-run Miele company introduced the world’s first built-in coffee machines. These were followed in 2016 by Miele’s own first coffee: 100% Arabica, hand-harvested, gently roasted and naturally organically certified and fair-traded.
This range has grown in the meantime to four exclusive Miele blends – and, from September, will be joined by an organically grown Limited Edition from Brazil along with three high-quality tea creations.
This single-origin coffee is processed using a gentle method called the pulped natural process, ensuring that it retains its characteristic aroma reminiscent of chocolate and berries with nutty note. The light roast that follows gives the coffee a well-balanced and smooth flavour for an exquisite espresso or a creamy Café Crema. The roast profile was created in collaboration with the Vollmer private coffee roasting company from Altenberge near Münster, from where Miele sources its other blends.
One special feature of the single-origin coffee is that it sources its beans from one single growing area with its characteristic climate and soil. This guarantees a uniform quality and flavour profile.
The beans used for the Limited Edition Selection Brazil originate from the Cerrado Mineiro region in the state of Minas Gerais in south-eastern Brazil. The Arabica beans are carefully cultivated on the Fazenda Guima plantation and harvested by hand. This is done in collaboration with the Dutch startup reNature, which specialises in regenerative farming and agroforestry projects.
With the Limited Edition Selection Brazil from Cerrado, Miele is taking its first steps in the field of regenerative cultivation. In the same region, a regenerative model farm is currently being set up in cooperation with reNature and the project group Flowins Farm which originates from Brazil. This climate-friendly approach to coffee growing is aimed at improving soil health and fertility, reducing carbon emissions and protecting water resources and biodiversity. Flora and fauna are chiefly protected by planting other shrubs, flowers and trees between the coffee plants, offering a habitat for certain (rare or endangered) animal species. The coffee shrubs on the model farm were planted in December 2022; the first coffee beans will probably be harvested in 2026. Further information on the coffee growing project is available here.
New tea blends for use on Miele coffee machines
And from now on, even discerning tea lovers will get their money’s worth at Miele: Automatic programmes for various tea specialities have been available on Miele coffee machines for some time – and now there is tea to match these programmes. The PerfectMorning, LivelyGreen and BestBerry blends consist entirely of natural ingredients and are organically certified*. PerfectMorning is a strong blend from Chinese black tea and Indian Assam tea, whilst LivelyGreen is characterised by its refreshing ginger and lemon note. And for those who prefer fruit tea, BestBerry with its forest-fruit aroma is a delicious choice.
The Limited Edition Selection Brazil and the three tea blends are available from September 2023 from www.miele.de and Miele Experience Centers, the coffee in 500 g bags, and the tea in tins of 80 g each. The coffee will first be launched in continental Europe and in Great Britain; the tea will launch in Germany, Austria, Great Britain and Switzerland. Further countries will follow in stages. In addition, there will be a refill option for the three tea varieties in 80-gram bags from autumn 2023.
