MILAN – Mikael Jasin, representing Indonesia, is the new WBC Champion. Jac Simpson, from Australia, was the runner-up, while Takayuki Ishitani, from Japan, took the third place. Over 60 competitors participated in the world’s premier coffee competition.
The competition took place at BEXCO, Busan, from May 1-4, 2024, at the inaugural World of Coffee in Asia.
The World Barista Championship (WBC) was back to Korea after seven years, where it was last held at COEX in Seoul.
This highly-competitive annual event — one of the seven skill-based World Coffee Championships (WCC) — serves as the culmination of local and regional events around the globe.
Competitors demonstrate their expertise in crafting innovative espresso-based drinks across the espresso, milk, and signature beverage courses, with the cutting-edge approaches and tools used on stage having extensive and enduring impacts on the industry.
