GENEVA, Switzerland – MSC announces its participation at the African Fine Coffees Conference, a premier event for coffee professionals from around the world, taking place 15-17 February 2023 at the Kigali Convention Centre in Kigali, Rwanda. The AFCC brings together industry leaders, coffee growers, traders, roasters, and other stakeholders to share knowledge, network, and discuss the latest trends and developments in the African coffee industry.

As a leading player in the global coffee transportation, MSC sees great value in participating in this important event and is looking forward to connecting with other industry professionals and learning more about the unique opportunities and challenges facing African coffee producers.

As a global leader in the container shipping and logistics industry, MSC has the resources and expertise to connect coffee producers in Africa with buyers around the globe.

In 2021, coffee exports from Africa were valued at nearly 2.5 billion U.S. dollars, with Ethiopia leading the way at 1.2 billion U.S. dollars and Uganda following with 594.2 million U.S. dollars.

MSC’s presence in the African coffee industry is a major contributor to this success, due to its network of shipping routes connecting the continent’s top coffee-producing countries, such as Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda, to key markets in Europe, Asia, and North America.

By using ports like Mombassa and Dar El Salaam, MSC can ensure coffee beans are efficiently transported from Africa to buyers all over the world, arriving fresh and in optimal condition.

In addition to its shipping services, MSC also offers a range of logistics solutions to support the coffee industry in Africa. These include warehousing, packaging, and distribution services, as well as value-added services such as quality control and traceability. MSC’s logistics solutions help to ensure that coffee beans are stored, packaged, and transported in a way that preserves their quality and freshness.

Paul Bletterman will be speaking at the conference about how the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) impacts on doing supply chain business in Africa. The AfCFTA aims to create a single market for goods and services across the African continent, with the goal of increasing trade, economic growth, and regional integration. He will cover how MSC and its involvement in the African coffee industry can play an important role in supporting the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
