WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — The National Confectioners Association and its Young Professionals Network have opened the call to apply for the 2019 Future Leadership Program. Selected individuals will be provided with support, education, access and opportunity throughout the year-long accelerated leadership program.

“NCA’s Future Leadership Program is the perfect springboard for young professionals in the chocolate and candy industry,” said Sharon Montgomery, inside sales manager for Adams & Brooks, Inc.

“As a 2018 future leader, I made it a personal goal of mine to step out of my comfort zone and take full advantage of every networking opportunity. The networking and mentorship pairing have been most beneficial in elevating my leadership skills.”

Fostering industry growth and advancement, NCA’s future leaders will engage in a formal mentorship with an esteemed member of the industry personally selected for them.

Future leaders will also attend NCA’s signature events: the State of the Industry Conference, Sweets & Snacks Expo and Washington Forum, all offering exceptional professional development opportunities through education and networking.

In addition, the class of 2019 will attend Candy Hall of Fame weekend where they’ll be able to establish relationships with current leaders of the confectionery industry.

“I would highly recommend NCA’s Future Leadership Program to anyone who has a passion for the industry and wants to take their career to the next level,” added Montgomery. “I’ve cultivated and built many new, valuable relationships with both my leadership class and with several well-known industry leaders.”

The deadline to apply is Monday, October 1, 2018. Employees of NCA member companies and qualified retail customers who are under the age of 40 are eligible to apply. More information about the Future Leadership Program and the application process can be found on NCA’s website.

Established in 2016, the Future Leadership Program is an initiative led by NCA’s YPN Committee and supported by the Candy Hall of Fame. The program continues to garner praise for its commitment to the next generation of confectionery leaders.
