DONG NAI, Vietnam – Political figures from Vietnam and other VIPs come together last week to mark the inauguration of a new Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsule production line in Dong Nai Province, Vietnam.
Guests at the unveiling of the new feature at Nestlé’s Tri An factory at Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa city are Vice Minister of Industry & Trade Ministry Do Thang Hai, Representatives of Agriculture & Rural Development Ministry, Representatives of Natural Resources & Environment Ministry, Deputy Director General of Dong Nai Industrial Zone Authority Le Van Danh, Consul General of Switzerland in Vietnam Othmar Hardegger and Managing director of Nestlé Vietnam Ganesan Ampalavanar.
The Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsule production line uses raw materials from high quality Vietnamese coffee beans, providing premium coffee products for domestic consumption and export. The use of indigenous beans in its Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules underscores Nestlé’s efforts to enhance the value of Vietnamese coffee and agricultural produce from the country in general through the means of production, processing and export.
Introduced in 2015
Introduced to Vietnam in October 2015, the Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine and its premium coffee capsules has been a huge hit with Vietnamese consumers. Therefore, the use of local coffee beans at the new production line will help satisfy domestic demand while enabling Vietnamese coffee lovers enjoy high quality at reasonable prices. Approximately 90% of the Nescafé Dolce Gusto output from the Dong Nai facility, meanwhile, will be exported to other markets in Asia including Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia.
The leading coffee buyer in Vietnam
Nestlé is currently the leading coffee buyer in Vietnam with an annual purchase volume of 20-25% of total coffee production output in the nation. To raise the value of Vietnamese coffee beans further, Nestlé Vietnam implemented its Nescafé Plan in 2011. Through the project, Nestlé has helped improve the output and quality of coffee beans for export while increasing the production volume of coffee products such as the Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules.
The new production line is expected to process 2,500 tons of coffee per year (equivalent to 130 million capsules). This volume plans to increase in the coming years. With Nescafé instant coffee and decaffeinated coffee being processed at Nestlé factories in Vietnam, the Nescafé Dolce Gusto output from the Nestlé Tri An factory will up the volume of Vietnamese coffee passing through Nestlé production lines in the country – a great boost for the sector.
Nestlé’s commitment to Vietnam
Mr. Ganesan Ampalavanar, Managing Director of Nestlé Vietnam said: “The new Nescafé Dolce Gusto production line will help make great coffee widely accessible to Vietnamese consumers and to 13 export markets. Moreover, the new production line reaffirms Nestlé Vietnam’s commitment to adding value to and developing this Vietnam’s coffee industry.“
