Neuhaus Neotec introduces GOURMET series, the next generation of roasters

Ralf Torenz, General Manager Neuhaus Neotec: “As a pioneer of hot air roasting, the new GOURMET once again demonstrates the wide range of possibilities that this roasting technique offers, not only in the coffee sector. The incredible flexibility of the process offers such far-reaching possibilities for product refinement that we can now also reach customers with the new generation who previously had to resort to other systems due to a lack of alternatives”

GANDERKESEE, Germany – Based on many years of experience in hot air roasting, Neuhaus Neotec now introduces the next generation of roasters with RFB roasting technology.  The GOURMET series is designed for capacities of up to 2,000 kg/h and is currently available in three different sizes:

  • GOURMET 1000: 35 – 110 kg -> 1,000 kg/h green coffee
  • GOURMET 1500: 50 – 150 kg -> 1,500 kg/h green coffee
  • GOURMET 2000: 70 – 220 kg -> 2,000 kg/h green coffee (NEW!)

The application is not just limited to coffee. The new, modular design of the roasters and the high degree of flexibility allow them to be adapted to a wide range of roasted products.

For example, nuts, seeds and grains can be processed in the same roasting system. This significantly reduces investment costs and space requirements while offering a high degree of flexibility in the use of production capacities.

Roasted nuts and seeds are also very popular in Turkey. A Turkish company is currently making a major investment in gourmet roasting technology on a large scale in order to roast hazelnuts and pistachios.

Custom configurations possible

The gourmet roasters are operated via a large panel with touch panel, process visualization and recipe management. Roasting profiles with up to 21 profile levels are possible. Includes batch protocol for documentation of roasting results and data transfer to a customer’s production management system. Equipped with PLC and I/O technology, the roaster offers maximum control over recipe management and homogeneous roasting results for each batch – fully monitored by a large number of sensors! The Gourmet series offers a wide range of options for configuring the roaster to meet individual customer and process requirements.

Uncompromising in terms of quality

The RFB roasting technology developed by Neuhaus Neotec combines many advantages that not only have a positive effect on the roasting result, but also on energy consumption during the roasting process.

Thanks to the special design, the roasting chamber does not contain any moving elements that could lead to product damage such as abrasion or breakage. Light particles, such as impurities in the raw product, parchment skins, etc. are separated from the clean product by the air flow during roasting and discharged into the collection cyclone without barriers.

The patented design of the roasting chamber ensures fast gravimetric emptying. As a result, the water feed function could be relocated to the cooling chamber so that the roasting chamber remains at the specified temperature level at all times. This means that batch after batch can be roasted without interruption and without reheating phases. As a result, there are no rapid temperature changes, which significantly reduces material stress.

Maximum energy yield

Thanks to the use of economical drives and components, a high degree of efficiency in the use of thermal energy, low heat losses thanks to optimum insulation and the high recirculation rate in the roasting gas circuit, the RFB technology from NEUHAUS NEOTEC is characterized by significantly lower energy consumption compared to other roasting systems of the same capacity.
