PORTLAND, US – Through a new partnership with coffee technology company, M-Cultivo, the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) and the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), roasters in select geographic areas will now have the opportunity to directly purchase micro-lots that scored at least 86 points by the Cup of Excellence (CoE)Brazil National Jury but did not move forward to the International Jury in the Cup of Excellence Brazil 2021 competition. In collaboration with the BSCA and ACE, M-Cultivo will offer these 30 unique coffees on an e-commerce marketplace. Designated Brazil Select, these coffees are currently available for sale to buyers in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom beginning November 3.

The 30 Brazil Select micro-lots curated by the Brazil National Jury will mirror several features that accompany Cup of Excellence winning lots including: farm information & photos, sensory & physical analysis, and storage in a bonded warehouse to assure quality. These Brazil Select coffees will be listed on M-Cultivo’s marketplace for a limited time. Buyers can register now for access to the marketplace, where they’ll be able to purchase coffees by the bag directly on the website next week. Buyers do not have to be ACE members, and will not be bidding on the coffees. The price for these micro-lots is US$4.20/lb FOB, plus the cost of freight, insurance, and import to their roastery. Preferred importers and exporters have been selected, offering buyers a streamlined purchasing experience.

“We’re excited to extend our producer services to include this online marketplace where roasters and producers can connect in a valuable way. It’s M-Cultivo’s mission to provide producers with accessible solutions to improve their business, and we believe this marketplace helps further that goal,” said M-Cultivo founder and CEO, David Paparelli.

This new sales channel for farmers in Brazil will serve as a pilot program for future National Jury scored coffees in other countries next year. The goal of the marketplace is to provide turnkey direct-trade coffees that have been validated by the Cup of Excellence vetting and cupping process.

“It is our hope that this new market extension will provide yet another avenue and bridge for coffee producers through the empowerment of the decades-long program that is the Cup of Excellence. This partnership is a way for our various institutions to pave yet another road for premium building for coffee producers,” said Alliance for Coffee Excellence Executive Director, Darrin Daniel.

For this pilot, Sancoffee Brazil will be the exporting partner, handling exportation of all 30 micro-lots.

“Our path in Specialty Coffee has brought us close to ACE and BSCA as part of the COE program and we are excited to collaborate now with M Cultivo. The shared values of innovation and the use of technology to improve market access allow our companies to envision a future in which we can generate a greater impact for all those involved in the coffee chain,” said Sancoffee General Manager, Fabricio Andrade.

Importers that have already committed to bringing these coffees to roasters include Anthem Coffee Imports in North America, and Falcon Coffees in the United Kingdom.

“Anthem Coffee Imports is honored to partner with this collective of specialty coffee leaders and looks forward to building a bridge between world class coffee producers and discerning roasters in North America,” said Anthem Imports’ Jon Hanson.

“Falcon is excited to participate in this opportunity to win recognition and financial reward for those farmers producing exceptional coffees. This new collaboration will allow Falcon to connect its global specialty client base with these outstanding farmers and their coffees, further strengthening ties in one of those most important communities in our coffee world, the specialty community,” said CEO of Falcon Coffees, Konrad Brits.
