From the country that brought you carbonated espresso comes a coffee and cola drink claiming to be Brazilian that’s described as a “delicious Carnival.” Wait, what?
Made with coffee produced in Brazil, Cafe do Cola is a carbonated combination of bitter coffee and sweet cola that has just been released in Japan.
If you think it’s strange, just remember that we’ve already seen three different coffee sodas, all of which tasted exactly how you would expect…not good.
But the newest illegitimate coffee child to come out of Japan takes things one step further, adding in a splash of cola sweetness.
The beverage was released just in time for all the World Cup hype, but we’re not quite convinced of the green, yellow, and red can’s authenticity. Is this even a common beverage in Brazil?
The Portuguese writing on the can is pretty convincing: “Cafe do Cola with taste of Brazil. It’ll quench your thirst.”
The jury is still out on whether or not Café do Cola is a hit, but murmurings on social media point to it being a flop. You can’t argue with reviews like “I’m never buying this again” and “I think I’m gonna be sick.”
